Rachel Anne McAdams

Rachel Anne McAdams was born on November 17, 1978 in London (Ontario, Canada) to Sandra Kay (Gale), who is a nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams who is a truck driver/furniture mover. She is English--, Welsh- -, Irishas well as Scottish. Rachel began acting as an teen. At the age of 13, she was participating in Shakespearean productions at a summer theater camp. Following graduation, Rachel received a BFA degree from York University in Theater. After making her television debut on Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson in 1998, Rachel was a part of Canadian TV's Slings and Arrows 2003. The comedy drama follows the struggles of Shakespearean theater groups. The actress was awarded a Gemini Award for her performance in 2003. The role she played in Mean Girls (2004) as Regina George instantly landed her on the list of Hollywood's most sought-after of promising young actors. Following that film, she had her own starring role alongside Ryan Gosling in the adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks bestseller The Notebook (2004) that was a surprising box office success and became the predominant romantic drama for a brand new generation of moviegoers. After the film was completed, McAdams and Gosling became romantically involved and dated through the middle of 2007. McAdams' next film was the comedy Wedding Crashers (2006), the action thriller Red Eye (2004), and the Christmas drama The Family Stone ((2005)). McAdams also explored independent cinema with Married Life (2007) which premiered at Toronto Film Festival. It also featured Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper, as well as Patricia Clarkson. Starring roles in the war drama The Lucky Ones (2007), the newspaper thriller State of Play (2009) and the romantic comedy The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) followed before she starred in the role of Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in Guy Ritchie's international blockbuster Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams portrayed the plucky producer in Morning Glory (2010). McAdams also played Owen Wilson's wife, a materialistic one in Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams then returned to the world of romantic dramas with The Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum. McAdams is also a part of Terrence Malick in To the Wonder (2012) as well as Noomi Rapace plays Passion (2012) in Brian De Palma’s thriller.
