Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis, an actor and musician is well-known for playing hard-edged characters or funny characters in action films. Bruce Willis has been featured in over $2.5 billion worth of films. Walter Bruce Willis was born on March 19, 1955, in Idar-Oberstein (West Germany) to Marlene Kassel and David Andrew Willis (from Carneys Point New Jersey), both of them living on a United States military base. His family immigrated to the U.S. soon after he was born. Willis was born in Penns Grove by his mother, who worked at a bank, and his father who was a welder who was a factory worker and welder. Willis was interested in acting at the age of high school. While working in the New York City café, he was allegedly "discovered". Then, he went on to appear in a handful of off-Broadway productions. He was bartending when a casting director saw his charm and approached him to be bartender in a tiny movie. After countless auditions Willis made a few film appearances typically uncredited, before taking on the role of the private watchdog "David Addison" along with the sultry Cybill Shepherd in the smash romantic comedy TV series Moonlighting (1985). The sarcastic humor and wittiness as a P.I. is one of the most memorable of his professional career. His sarcastic and wisecracking P.I. is often seen as a trial run for his role of John McClane, the hardboiled NYC detective in Die Hard (1988), which saw Willis combat a gang of brutal international thieves at an Los Angeles skyscraper. The sequel, Die Hard 2 (1990), Willis reprised his role in the role of McClane. The plot set in Washington's Dulles International Airport where a group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers are trying to bring back a corrupt South American general. The success of the film at the box office prompted an additional sequel Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995) which, this time with co-star Samuel L. Jackson as the sly Harlem shop owner unwittingly thrust into supporting McClane in the aftermath of a terrorist bombing campaign on a sweltering day in New York.
